Broadcasting from Forward Station, Aglarond IV
Day 1253 of the Second Swaparaman Space Age
I’ve calmed down a little.
We have both calmed down. Even the wisest and most holy Swaparamans can let their emotions get the better of them. But we have only to remind ourselves of the righteousness of our mission to regain our resolve.
It also helps that we made mincemeat of that Frutmaka ship when it hit Hope two days ago. Really gets the confidence juice flowing.
The newfound resolve could not come at a better time. The two massive Chronomyst ships we spotted five days ago…
…have arrived here in Aglarond.
Before they close into weapons range, Tananni and I thought we’d share our brilliant battle plan with you. We’ve stationed the WS Vanguard behind Forward Station in the hopes that the Chronomyst ships will prioritize the Vanguard and, in getting close enough to fire on it, would make the mistake of crossing over into range of our orbital missile bases.
Orbital missiles do considerably more damage than any shipboard weapons.
Meanwhile, our Galaxy-Famous Shields will absorb the Chronomyst attacks.
But with two firing on the Vanguard, I don’t know how long the shields will hold. It’s possible that these larger ships will also have more powerful shields that can resist the Vanguard’s weapons.
If that’s the case, most of the work will need to be done by Forward Station’s very limited missiles.
But with any luck, we’ll scrape out a victory.
There is no such thing as luck, Don.

…I can’t believe any of that worked.

Day 1319 SSSA
Apologies, viewers, for the silence. We have been busy bringing about the New Galactic Order.
We’re rebuilding the defenses over Forward Station.
Unfortunately, switching our work crews from the refit of the Liberty to construction of a missile base has… resulted… in the destruction of the Liberty. I don’t think the workers quite understood our instructions.
[LPer’s Note: Apparently if you cancel a ship refit, the ship is just lost forever. In all my years playing this game I never realized that. Whoops.]
Everything happens for a reason. An even more powerful ship has since been constructed at Hope. This is a hybrid warship and invader, the WS Retaliation.
And it was finished in record time thanks to all the factories on Hope I!
Once complete, it blasted its way through an attacking Mebe ship and on to Aglarond.
And the colony dealt with another huge Chronomyst ship just days later.
Even now it seems like no other galactic power can compete with us. But on the horizon is a discovery that will revolutionize our warmaking. The long-range Plasmatron!
So today we bring you live footage of a third battle with the Chronomysts. A ship has just arrived in Aglarond. Don — give the order.
Vanguard drawing back behind the planet. They’re falling for it again!
They really do not learn. Ready the missiles to destroy them.
Tananni! The Vanguard reports they’re taking fire!
That was part of the plan, yes. Their shields will hol–
No, they’re taking heavy missile fire! From… uh…?
Aglarond I!
The Frutmaka colony?! They have orbital structures already? Pull the Vanguard away from them!
It’s… too late.
We’ve lost the Vanguard.
Nice strats, losers.
CUT THE FEED.

Day 1400 SSSA
Everything has gone according to plan.
With only… minor setbacks.
We may have lost the Vanguard, but in truth it was an outdated ship — and a newer, better one can now take its place.
The Valor, recently completed in Hope, is designated a colony ship — but it’s got a standard Molecular Disassociator to defend itself, and upgraded power systems to keep the shields up even longer than on our previous ships.
The CS Valor is on its way now to the unclaimed Bodkin System, here:
But as you might’ve noticed, Aglarond has already been swept up in the purple wave.
It began with eliminating the Chronomyst ship.
Once that distraction was removed, the WS Retaliation moved to begin the siege on Aglarond I and III.
Over the next few days, the Retaliation wiped out all orbital defenses, leaving both planets defenseless.
And then we took them!
…after a slight delay.
Yes yes. Aglarond III’s surface defenses were able to repel the first wave of invaders. However, after a quick refit, the Retaliation claimed the planet.
New missile bases are already under construction on our new aquisitions.
In the meantime, the Chronomysts and Mebes keep coming.
The foolish Chronomysts and Mebes. Who continue to be blown from the skies.
Admittedly, the Frutmaka have been a touch more clever.
Not nearly clever enough.
They have been sending ships into Aglarond not actually to fight with us, but to try to colonize one of the remaining planets, Aglarond V.
In the race to Aglarond V, they had a head start. So we weren’t able to prevent them from colonizing the planet…
But we were able to destroy their ship…
…and invade their brand new colony.
So, like I said: clever… but with no discernible goal.

Day 1428 SSSA
The good news never ceases, Friends and Comrades!
Industry is positively booming on Forward Station, allowing refits and repairs of ships on the front line in just days at a time!
The CS Valor has passed through the Bodkin System, establishing our first colony there!
…even if it’s a bit of a dump…
And the Valor has already moved on toward the Icarus System!
Excellent. But with all of those more dreary accomplishments out of the way, let me tell you about the real breakthroughs.
The Plasmatron is OURS. The tremendous range of this new weapon will give us an almost-unimaginable advantage over our already pathetic foes. It will be incorporated into a new ship immediately:
The WS Arbalest.
In less than 18 days, the galaxy’s trembling fear shall become a full quake. The Frutmaka will know the wrath of Tanandanam’s lineage!
Revenge!
And once the Frutmaka are no more, we will take the galaxy for ourselves.
Yea– Wait, the whole galaxy?
The whole galaxy.
I don’t think the other races will be cool with that.
Those who resist will be swept from existence.
…oh.

Have you ever considered that we might be the baddies in this story?
No.
